LL Cool J weighs in on Chris Brown and Justin Bieber legal woes: ‘I’ve been there, done that’

The incomparable LL Cool J graced the stage at the ninth annual Miami Jazz in the Gardens festival, and left his die-hard fans breathless.

The 46-year-old actor rapper performed some of his biggest hits including “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “I Need Love,” and “Going Back to Cali,” as the crowd recited every verse.

After his rousing performance the Grammy winner caught up with theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon to talk about his ‘bad boy’ alter ego, and weighed in Chris Brown’s and Justin Bieber’s legal woes.

“Sometimes when you’re a young kid with a lot of money and a bunch of crazy friends around you, things can happen,” LL Cool J said of Brown.

“It takes a while to become a man, and there really is a difference between a man and a boy, and it’s not just physical. You can’t expect a nineteen or twenty year old with $20 million to just be a man because they have money. Money does not make you a man. I’m a little more lenient on them in my judgment, because I’ve been there, done that.”

LL Cool J, who has supported republican politicians in the past, also weighed in on President Obama’s push for Americans without health insurance to sign up for Obamacare by March 31.

The “Headsprung” rapper says he hasn’t yet been approached by the Obama administration to promote Obamacare, but would like to see everybody out there with affordable healthcare.

“I think every individual has to choose whether it’s [Obamacare] right for them. To ask somebody who makes enough to cover their own health care at this point in my life… It’s a little different. I think for somebody out there who can afford to get health care… I think everybody deserves to have health care… And I’d like to see everybody out there with affordable healthcare.”
