The most inconsistent and mysterious artist in Jay-Z’s Roc Nation army, Jay Electronica has been busy in 2014, dropping three tracks new this month.
The father of Erykah Badu’s son Mars hasn’t released music on his own since 2012, but good things come to those who wait.
Freestyling over Drake’s “We Made It” (which originally was a Soulja Boy Track), Jay Electronica speaks the gospel as he raps about the empire that is Roc Nation. Hov jumps in on the second verse sounding inspired and hungry, rapping as if his “Drunk In Love” verse never existed.
The horn driven production behind “We Made It” is reminiscent of a battle cry, but in the hands of Jay Electronica it sounds like a black superhero’s theme music.
