Diana Ross turns 70, a look at her style (SLIDESHOW)

Diana Ross was born March 26, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan. She was born to a U.S. Army soldier father and a schoolteacher mother and raised in the projects, on the north side of Detroit.

Ross, as a member of Motown’s The Supremes, had her first big hit in 1964 with “Where Did Our Love Go?” She’s since had a long career as a solo act and as an Oscar-nominated actress.

Throughout her career, this diva has been lauded for her unique personal style.

According to biographies, Ross wanted to be a fashion designer and studied design and pattern making at Cass Technical High School in Detroit as a young woman. Instead, she became an iconic singer and took her passion for fashion with her.
