Teen fatally shot in front of Chicago church

Sixteen-year-old Michael Flournoy was fatally shot Saturday night in front of a South Side Chicago church.

The teen was visiting his cousins in Chicago’s Burnside neighborhood, reports NBC Chicago. He was walking to buy chips when he was caught in crossfire.

“I was in the house and I heard the shots,” said Flournoy’s uncle Richard Jackson, according to NBC Chicago. “I came over here and I saw my nephew lying on the ground.”

Flournoy was the second person killed in Chicago by gun violence over the weekend.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with these kids,” said Jackson. “These kids are really out of control. I don’t know if we failed them as fathers or what, but we need to get control of something. Kids are losing their lives for nothing.”

The young man played football and wrestled for Simeon High School.
