Dr. Maya Angelou has died at the age of 86.
The renowned poet is without a doubt a national treasure, and, as one writer put it, America’s most phenomenal woman.
In an interview with theGrio.com’s Chris Witherspoon in 2011, Dr. Angelou opened up about her legacy.
“I do my best with everything I do,” Dr. Angelou said. “Whether I’m directing a movie or writing a poem, if I’m teaching class or cooking dinner for a friend. I do my best at everything I do. I bring my whole self to it. I’m blessed and grateful that I’m appreciated and welcomed.”
