Suspect arrested in stabbing of Brooklyn children

Authorities in New York have arrested 27-year-old Daniel St. Hubert in connection with stabbing two children in a Brooklyn elevator, killing one and critically injuring the other.

Police made the arrest in Ozone Park, Queens, Wednesday night, reports NBC New York. The suspect had a  kitchen knife with him when police located him.

St. Hubert was released from prison less than two weeks ago and is currently on patrol for domestic assault.

His prior offenses include assaulting a police officer and a correction officer.

Police Commissioner Bill Bratton did say that police had forensic evidence linking St. Hubert to the double stabbing.

St. Hubert’s connection to another deadly stabbing of a teen two days earlier is still being investigated.

Six-year-old Prince Joshua Avitto, who is the cousin of Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson, was killed in the elevator attack, and his friend seven-year-old Mikayla Capers remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
