Over the weekend, the cast of Think Like a Man Too gathered in Los Angeles to promote the highly anticipated sequel to Think Like a Man.
Moments before the press junket, reports surfaced that comedian Tracy Morgan was critically injured after being involved in a deadly multi-vehicle wreck in New Jersey early Saturday morning.
Morgan was airlifted to a nearby hospital after his limousine, also carrying comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton, was totaled. Another passenger, comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, was killed on impact.
During an interview with theGrio.com’s Chris Witherspoon, Think Like a Man Too cast members Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, Meagan Good, and LaLa Anthony opened up about Morgan’s impact on Hollywood.
“I just love his dry humor. His humor is different. I just love his style of comedy,” Henson said.
“He’s great at what he does, but he’s an awesome person,” LaLa added. “He’s a huge Knicks fan, and he comes to all the games. I said a prayer for him and his family today, and I just hope that he can definitely pull through.”
Union recalled her first time meeting Morgan on the red carpet for his 2005 film, The Longest Yard.
“We were in line going on a red carpet for The Longest Yard premiere, and he was like, ‘Gab, I really want to take the time to introduce you to my family. I feel like since we’re a family in black Hollywood, I want my family to meet you.’”
Morgan’s friend, Kevin Hart, says he’s praying for fellow comedian.
“Tracy’s somebody’s who’s been in the game for a long time, and he’s done amazing things in his career. He’s also helped the careers of a lot of other younger comedians,” Hart said. “My prayers go out to his family and to the whole comedian family. That’s a big blow because we all love Tracy. You don’t want to see anything bad happen to Tracy… At this point, we just kind of put our hands together and throw one up to the big fella and hope that he comes out alive and is able to do what he does the best, which is make us all laugh, and continue to open doors up for guys like myself.”
Morgan sustained a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs, according to his publicist, Lewis Kay. Kay adds that Morgan “has been more responsive today.”
“We expect him to remain in the hospital for several weeks,” Kay said in a statement. “His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
