Dave Chappelle’s legendary Chappelle’s Show has been off the air for nearly 8 years, and the comedian has largely steered clear of the spotlight since then.
But Tuesday, Chappelle appeared as a guest on Late Night with David Letterman and opened up about leaving Comedy Central behind.
“Look, here’s the thing man,” Chappelle told Letterman Tuesday night. “Technically, I never left. I’ve just been late to work for the past seven years.”
The man who brought us the classic Rick James and Prince sketches has quietly gone back to his stand up roots.
Chappelle will end his current comedy tour at the end of the month with some special guests at Radio City Music Hall, including The Roots, Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu, and Nas.
