Detroit rapper and entourage reportedly block Rick Ross from scheduled performance

Detroit’s Hot 107.5 station held its annual Summer Jamz hip hop concert Saturday, but one artist didn’t get the chance to take the stage.

Rapper Rick Ross and his entourage were blocked from walking into the venue by more than 100 individuals, according the radio station and venue officials.

“We had Rick Ross right outside here tonight,” Hot 107.5’s program director, Jay Hicks, told the crowd before Ross’ scheduled show time. “At about 11 o’clock, when he was pulling up to come into Chene Park, he was met by 100 individuals outside. We have tried to pull every resource together and asked him to come back. He is in fear of his life.”

Hicks continued: “This is some real s—. He was in fear of his life and (he) is not performing here tonight.”

Local Detroit rapper Trick Trick currently has a single out titled “No Flyzone” warning artists from outside of Detroit not to come into his city without permission. The rapper’s manager, Arthur Alston, admitted via email that his artist did play a part in Ross’ unofficial barring at Chene Park, an amphitheater which has hosted the concert several times in the past.

“It was Trick Trick,” Alston told MLive. “They (Chene Park) may not want to say his name or don’t know.”

A spokesperson for the production company which manages and helps operate Chene Park’s concerts also commented on the incident to MLive.

“This issue didn’t happen within Chene Park,” spokesperson David Rudolph said. “It happened outside, and it’s unfortunate that this was a tactic to prevent another artist from performing.”

Sunday, Ross took to social media to let fans know about his situation, even poking fun at his detractors:
