Six-year-old dog mauling victim released from hospital

Zainabou Drame left Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Tuesday, two months and one day after she was mauled by a pair of pit bulls.

“She’s been running around, laughing and playing. A little while ago, she was out on a scooter enjoying herself,” Zainabou’s aunt Gina Tyus said.

Zainabou was attacked by two pit bulls along a Westwood street in June. Police officers chased the dogs off the girl, then shot and killed them.

Her tongue was torn out in the attack, and she now has to eat through a feeding tube. Zainabou can’t speak, so she’s learning sign language and waiting on a new communication device to come in the mail.
