The excitement continues to mount for a healthy Derrick Rose to suit up for Chicago this season.
The former NBA MVP has had a busy summer, helping lead the USA basketball team to a gold in the FIBA World Cup. Tuesday, Rose donated $1 million to his a Chicago charity called “After School Matters.”
All in an off-season’s work.
The organization helps provide jobs and opportunities for mostly low-income minority teenagers. Rose said through a press release he wanted to show kids in Chicago that they “matter.”
My message to our kids is simple — you matter, you deserve every opportunity in life, and you can and should dream big because dreams can come true.
Rose’s high school, Simeon Career Academy, already has a relationship with ASM. The superstar learned of the non-profit’s work through the Bulls Community Relations department.
Rose attempted to return from injury last season but only lasted 10 games.
