Tasha Smith: I thought Tyler Perry was ‘asexual’

On a recent appearance on the Wendy Williams Show, Tasha Smith told the talk show host that she used to think Tyler Perry was “asexual.”

The actress, who has starred in a number of Perry’s projects, including Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too?, as well as the OWN series Tyler Perry’s Better or for Worse, made the comment in response to the news that Tyler Perry and his girlfriend, Gelila Bekele, were expecting their first child together.

During the appearance on Williams’ show in support of the upcoming film Addicted, the 43-year-old actress spoke on a range of topics, including sex addiction and her five-year marriage. And when Smith was asked about Tyler Perry’s first child, the actress didn’t hold back her surprise, saying about the notoriously hard-working actor, director and producer, “Stop it, Wendy! I used to think he was asexual. I didn’t think he had sex … at all! No but seriously … stop it, Wendy! No, seriously. He’s like an uncle that never has sex. I was just shocked and I’m so happy for him; he’s going to be a daddy. I used to think that he would just be the uncle-daddy, you know?”

The almost ten minute interview aired on October 7. When asked about her own plans for children, Smith said, “And Wendy, we are still trying to have a baby, ok? We are having sex all the time. As a matter of fact, we just got done. Up in your green room. I mean, why not, I’m ovulating. But Wendy, seriously, it’s driving me crazy. And if it doesn’t happen this time, will you carry for me?”

Addicted, Tasha Smith’s latest film, will be released in theaters on October 10.
