How three Nigerian girls escaped Boko Haram

Three girls kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists have provided a first-hand account of their miraculous escape.

The three girls tell BBC News exclusively they were attending school in northeastern Nigeria when they were brutally rounded up by Boko Haram members. Two of them jumped out of the back of a moving truck that was transporting hundreds of girls to an unknown location.

The other fled on foot, once the trucks arrived to their final destination.

In an animation by Luis Ruibal, the BBC depicts the tense moments the girls experienced during capture. All three of the girls’ real identities have been changed for their own protection.
