Sarah Palin blasted on Facebook for animal cruelty

Sarah Palin may have a new enemy in PETA if they check out her Facebook page.

On New Year’s Day the former governor of Alaska posted three photos of her 6-year-old son with special needs standing on a black labrador to reach the kitchen counter. She captioned the photo with a greeting.

May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for “up!”, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.

However, many of the more than 30,000 commenters on the post didn’t find the photos as adorable as Palin did.

“Anyone who sees this as anything other than cruel is just wrong. What about when he’s 10 and weighs twice as much as the family pet? Will it be ok then? We need to teach our children to respect all living things,” wrote one commenter.

Another wrote, “This is HORRIBLE! ABUSE! Teach your kid not to step on the dog – not cool. Definitely not something to be proud of and post.”

Palin did have her defenders. “If the dog was uncomfortable he would move. Quit crapping on Sarah,” said one of her followers.

What do you think? Is this animal cruelty or are people overreacting?
