Liam Neeson compares 'Taken 3' action scenes to Denzel's 'Equalizer'

Liam Neeson is back as Brian Mills, an ex-CIA operative with a particular set of a skills in Taken 3, which hits theaters nationwide Friday.

This time, Mills isn’t trying to save his daughter or rescue a kidnapped loved one but rather clear his name of a murder he didn’t commit.

Neeson is joined by Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, who plays Inspector Frank Dotzler, in what Neeson has said will be the last Taken ever.

In an interview with theGrio.com, Neeson and Whitaker talk about the common thread among some of the greatest action stars, including Denzel Washington.

Neeson compares his Taken 3 role to Washington’s recent role in The Equalizer.

“I can’t speak for Denzel, but with the Taken films, with these fight scenes, we try and make them — even though it’s like cartoon violence to a large extent — we try to make them real, and avoid all the Jackie Chan stuff, which is brilliant. But that’s almost like another genre,” Neeson said.

Whitaker also discussed how Hollywood is helping bridge racial divides in America with “colorless” films.
