'Sorority Sisters' respond to critics during VH1 special

VH1’s new series, “Sorority Sisters,” has been widely criticized for its faulty representation of black sororities and fraternities, and it has even drawn a widespread online boycott.

Although the series premiered last month to 1.3 million viewers, the online backlash and boycott led several large benefactors to pull funding from the show, including Sports Authority, Victoria’s Secret, Carmex, the NBA and McDonalds.

Amidst stories that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has suspended a cast member for her involvement in the show, and after death threats surfaced against cast members, the cast decided to host an interview to respond to criticism of the new show and to tell their stories.
