Rapper Brandon “Tiny Doo” Duncan may face 25 years to life in prison for rapping about gang violence.
Prosecutors are pointing to specific lyrics Duncan used that referred to actual crimes committed by a gang in Los Angeles. They say that he could be charged with criminal street gang conspiracy because he profited from the actions of a gang.
Duncan doesn’t even have a criminal record or any clear ties to any gangs. “The studio is my canvas. I’m just painting a picture. I’m not telling anybody to go out and kill somebody… these people [the prosecutors] have you scared to do anything around here,” he told CNN.
