Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

This Friday the 13th, Fox 5 San Diego seemed to have a stroke of bad luck when they briefly portrayed President Obama as a sexual assault suspect on their evening news broadcast.

Viewers were most likely surprised at 10:04 p.m. when they heard anchorwoman Kathleen Bade say, “The only suspect in a sex assault at SDSU will not be charged,” while a picture of Obama appeared on the screen with the words “NO CHARGES.”

The Obama picture was up for a full five seconds, even though the newsroom claims they noticed their mistake immediately.

“Yeah, there was an accident when they had an over-the-shoulder display,” Assignment editor Mike Wille told Times of San Diego. “It wasn’t on purpose.”

Willie admitted that there would be no on air apology made for the mix up. “They really don’t do that when it’s a small thing like that.”

Grio fam, what do you think? Should the news station have issued an apology?
