Phylicia Rashad defends 'Cosby Show' legacy during BET Honors

Phylicia Rashad was among a select group of honorees during Monday night’s broadcast of the BET Honors.

As Rashad accepted the award from Diahann Carroll for her portrayal of Clair Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” she made this interesting remark: “Legacy is important, don’t let it go. Don’t give it up.”

While Rashad’s comments may have been defending the legacy of “The Cosby Show” itself, many people find the comments strangely similar to the one Rashad made in defense of Bill Cosby back in January:

“Forget these women,” she said. “What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.”

Grio fam, what do you think? Was Rashad defending the man, the show, or the legacy?
