After a video was released of University of Oklahoma’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity singing a racist song, another video has gone viral, in which the fraternity’s house mother repeatedly says the n-word.
Beauton Gilbow, who lived at the fraternity house for 15 years, was in tears when she told reporters she couldn’t believe her charges would do such a thing when video surfaced of University of Oklahoma Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity chapter boys singing “There will never be a n***** in SAE.”
But on Monday, the Daily Oklahoman published a video of Gilbow apparently chanting “N***a” as Trinidad James’ “All Gold Everything” plays in the background.
Gilbow has not been available for comment on the video.
As for the rest of Oklahoma University, the react has been swift and clearly against the racist behavior of SAE. OU President David Boren “severed” ties between the fraternity and the university and ordered its members to vacate.
A statement read, in part:
To those who have misused their free speech in such a reprehensible way, I have a message for you. You are disgraceful. You have violated all that we stand for. You should not have the privilege of calling yourselves ‘Sooners.’ Real Sooners are not racist. Real Sooners are not bigots. Real Sooners believe in equal opportunity. Real Sooners treat all people with respect. Real Sooners love each other and take care of each other like family members.
On Tuesday, two students, who were “identified as playing a leadership role in the singing of a racist chant,” were expelled.
