A black college student says that he was arrested after embarrassing two Philadelphia police officers in a pickup game of basketball.
Samir Hill, a point guard at Allegany College of Maryland, said that he was playing with some neighborhood kids on 56th St. and Lansdowne Ave. when the two officers showed up and began “talking trash.”
“We gave them ball first,” the 21-year-old told Complex Magazine. “I was playing on the court 2 on 2 with my friend Josh — they almost scored on him. We get the ball, and everybody starts pulling out their cameras. The first cop, I crossed him and laid it up.”

“He’s like, ‘I don’t play basketball, I play football,’” Hill said. “So he put his partner on me — the second one, the one I made fall. Everyone went crazy.”
The video clips of the matchup quickly went viral on social media, with big names like former NFL star Chad Johnson sharing the video.
Two days later, Hill said, the cops came for him.
“I think it was because of the video, but they said it was the people I was around,” Hill said. “I don’t think it was that though, because most of the kids I hang around are college kids. I think they just wanted to take me down to the district to show who I was.”
Hill said he was at the police station for about an hour and a half while the officers searched the car he was in with a friend. The collegiate athlete said police “never explained” why he was there, but was eventually released without any charges.
