Ohio 3-year-old accidentally shoots, kills 1-year-old

Ohio investigators are trying to make sense of a tragedy after a 1-year-old was killed by a 3-year-old who picked up an unattended gun.

On Sunday, Braylon Robinson, just 1-year-old, was struck in the face and killed after a toddler, 3, picked up a loaded gun and fired it accidentally. It is not yet clear if or how the 3-year-old was related to little Braylon.

Since then, investigators have been looking into the adults responsible for this grave error. They are trying to determine who knew about the weapon and left it unattended, as well as who knew that there were children exposed to the gun.

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said that whoever was responsible for the unattended, loaded firearm would likely face charges.

“It’s a sad day for Cleveland,” Williams said. “This fascination that we have with handguns, not just in this city but in this country, has to stop. This is a senseless loss of life.”

He went on to say: “Currently we’re investigating where this firearm came from. We’re also investigating how this tragedy actually happened. A three-year-old can’t be held accountable for a tragedy like this.”

“There have to be adults that either supplied the weapons, had charge of the weapons or knew the weapons were there and didn’t do anything to safeguard them,” he said.
