Father slams parents for publicly shaming kids in viral video

If you haven’t noticed, there’s a lot of parents out here in these streets shaming their kids online.

From shaving heads for bad grades to making their kids hold signs about lying or stealing, the embarrass your kids ‘trend’ is pretty much a ‘thing’ now.

One Florida father doesn’t believe in the hype, and he’s made his own video to prove it:

It's time for me to discipline my kid the tough way! Why? I don't play that!

Posted by Wayman Gresham on Wednesday, May 27, 2015

The video starts with Wayman Gresham standing over his son with a pair of clippers in his hand. Everyone assumes an awful haircut is on deck.

Gresham describe the ways that he had taught his son Isiah how to behave properly and to do “the right thing.”

But then Gresham flips the script.

“There’s no way I would ever embarrass my son like that,” Gresham said.

“It doesn’t take all of that,” Gresham continues. “Good parenting starts before he even gets to the point of being out of control. Good parenting is getting up in the middle of the night, getting up in the middle of the night and praying for your child. Good parenting is letting your child know that you love them, regardless of what they are and who they are and showing them the way by example.”

Gresham posted the video Wednesday on his Facebook page. It’s been viewed more than 8.5 million times as of Friday afternoon.
