On Thursday, Mariah Carey opened up about being an American Idol judge in 2013.
During her interview with the Australian radio show “The Kyle and Jackie O Radio Show,” she was asked if she would be returning to the show for its finale.
“Hell, no!” she said. “That was the worst experience of my life.”
“I’m not going to get into what it was, but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show.”
Her dislike of the show did not stem from the rumored feud between herself and fellow judge Nicki Minaj, either. At least, she said, there was no ill will toward Minaj.
“Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool. It should have been about the contestants instead of about some nonexistent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness,” she added. “I would never want to be involved with it again.”
Both Minaj and Carey quit on the same day after the season ended.
But this is not the first time Carey has gone on record bemoaning her time on the show. She said something similar to a radio show in 2013.
“Honestly, I hated it,” she said then. “It was like hell. Going to work every day in hell with Satan.”
