A Beyoncé-inspired skyscraper is coming to Australia

The city of Melbourne has approved plans for a skyscraper inspired by Beyoncé.

The tower will stand at 68 stories tall, with plenty of curves to go around, and it will even move. The Australian architecture studio Elenberg Fraser is calling it the Premiere Tower.

Although the tower will not be named after Beyoncé, it’s clear where the inspiration came from.

“For those more on the art than science side, we will reveal that the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic,” said the architects in a statement. “We’re going to trust you’ve seen the music video for Beyoncé’s ‘Ghost,’” said the studio.

And while the curvy, bendy nature of the tower and its relation to Queen Bey is certainly eye-catching, the studio says that it is also efficient and functional.

“The complex form – a vertical cantilever – is actually the most effective way to redistribute the building’s mass, giving the best results in terms of structural dispersion, frequency oscillation and wind requirements,” they said, noting that the building could also respond to the weather.

The design was optimized with parametric modeling and computer-aided algorithms, and its design is truly interesting and intricate.

Plus, you know, the Beyoncé thing is good press.
