Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A 7-year-old’s dream came true when the Make a Wish Foundation set up a day for him to meet WWE wrestler John Cena, and ESPN followed him on his journey.

K.J. Lamar, who had been struggling with kidney problems since birth, received a life-saving kidney transplant last October. When he was born, his right kidney was only functional at 40 percent, and his left kidney did not work at all. By the time he was six, he was already on dialysis.

“I had an aunt who died while she was on dialysis, so that was my first thought,” Lamar’s mom told ESPN.

The Make a Wish Foundation stepped in to help Lamar through his recovery. He is a huge fan of wrestling and had always wanted to meet Cena, and the Make a Wish team knew they could make that dream come true.

So during a taping of Monday Night Raw, the 7-year-old got to step into the wrestling ring with his hero, and Cena declared to a cheering audience, “We have a special guest. He is easily the smartest 7-year-old I have ever met. Ladies and gentleman, this is K.J. And the champ is here!”

Cena didn’t hold anything back, showering Lamar with gifts and introducing him to several more wrestling stars.

“It would be the best day of my life ever,” Lamar said.
