Confederate flag supporters reportedly interrupt black boy's birthday party, issue threats

Witnesses say a child’s birthday party was interrupted by a convoy of trucks waving Confederate rebel flags in a Georgia town.

Police in Douglasville responded to what officials describe as a “large group of individuals” engaged in a “heated argument.” The group included the large convoy of trucks and residents attending a child’s birthday party.

Videos shot on the scene show the aftermath of the confrontation, according to Melissa Alford, who posted the clips on Facebook.

“This is a child’s birthday party,” a woman says on the video as the trucks are seen exiting once police arrived. Alford tells WSB-TV the Confederate flag group shouted the N-Word and other verbal threats.

Police say they received “conflicting” stories as to what led up to the confrontation. A member of the convoy of trucks was later arrested, but police say his charges were unrelated to the incident.

“We’re being publicized as the KKK and that’s not us,” Levi Bush told WSB-TV. Bush later identified himself to the station as a driver of one of the pickup trucks.
