Man tries to abduct baby in McDonald's parking lot, infant's mother bites him

A Georgia mother fought off a man who tried to steal her 10-month-old baby right out of her car, reports WXIA.

The 35-year-old mother had gone out to eat at McDonald’s with her family. While they were in the restaurant, a man sat close by her family. Then, the woman and her family left, and she buckled her child into the car seat. When she was walking around to the front of the car the man from the restaurant pulled open the car door and started to take the child from the seat.

According to police, the family jumped into action. Another family member was bitten by the suspect in an attempt to stop the abduction, while the mother, from inside the car, began to hit the suspect while holding her child down. She also bit him on the arm.

The suspect fled to a nearby hotel, but witnesses were able to give police a description of him, and 19-year-old Sterlyn Reynolds was later arrested and charged with kidnapping and cruelty to children in the first degree.

According to police, the baby suffered minor injuries to her arms and neck but was otherwise okay.

The family claimed never to have seen Reynolds before, and it is not yet clear why he attempted to kidnap the child.
