Nia Long was taken to task on Instagram after she posted using the hashtag #AllLivesMatter.
The hashtag, which has been taken from the Black Lives Matter movement, has long been criticized as a method of downplaying the violence done specifically to black Americans.
The post, in which Long was advocating for prison reform, read, “Now is the time for criminal justice! Join me in helping @innocence fight wrongful convictions. #AllLivesMatter #reform.”
While some fans applauded Long for her involvement in the movement for prison reform, others accused her of “selling out” by using the #AllLivesMatter hashtag rather than the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
