This week, it was announced that Vondie Curtis Hall will be directing Unbreak My Heart: The Toni Braxton Story for Lifetime.
According to Roger Friedman at Showbiz 411, Braxton’s movie will be based on her autobiography and cover everything from her meteoric rise to the top to her bouts with illness and two bankruptcies.
The supporting cast of characters in the biopic will include Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, LA Reid, Pebbles, and the Braxton sisters. There has been no word yet on who will be playing these high profile roles.
Lifetime has a reputation for being hit or miss with their autobiographical depictions, and Hall, who is also an actor, previously directed Mariah Carey’s notoriously panned film Glitter.
One can only hope that this project ends up being a triumphant moment of redemption for all parties involved.
