Eddie Murphy impersonates Bill Cosby during acceptance speech

On Sunday, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presented Eddie Murphy with the Mark Twain Prize, which is the top prize in the nation for comedians. When he accepted the award, Murphy cracked several jokes, most notably a few aimed at disgraced comedian Bill Cosby, who is also a recipient of the Mark Twain Prize.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy said that the prize was a “tremendous honor” and then asked if Cosby had been asked to give his prize back in the wake of the wave of sexual assault allegations against him, saying that you’ve really messed up “when they want you to give your trophy back.”

“Bill has one of these. Did you all make him give it back?” he asked.

He then pulled out his best impression of Cosby refusing to give back the award: “I would like to talk to some of the people who feel like I should give back my motherf***in’ trophies.”

Murphy continued with a “Pudding Pop” impression as he continued to play the part of Bill Cosby: “You may have heard recently that I allegedly put the pill in the people’s stomach … If I ever see or meet this Hannibal Buress in person I am going to try and kill this man!”
