Rev Run on new travel series: ‘My ministry are these shows’

Rev Run and his family are back on TV with the Travel Channel’s new series, Rev Runs Around the World.

After spending decades traveling the world with band mates, Rev Run is embarking on his next travel adventure, but this time with his family. Equipped with four round-the-world tickets, Rev and family get to brave exotic territories, fascinating cultures, and much more.

“I would call it Run’s House out of the house,” Rev Run said in an interview with theGrio. “You think of the show Run’s House, just think of us not in the house. That’s what your gonna be looking at. The same family on the road.”

Rev Run and family became household names on the heels of their wildly successful MTV reality show, Run’s House. Rev Run says the series, which ran for six seasons and came to an end in 2009, served as a ministry tool.

“We went into reality TV as like my pulpit. As Rev Run, I don’t run a church, but if you would turn to MTV back then, you would see a family operating in a way that was a message. The message was the show,” Rev Run, who’s an ordained minister, recalled.  “For now, when you look at me traveling the world, it’s a positive message… lots of love, romance, and lots of hugs between me and my children. That’s the essence of what we do. My ministry are these shows.”

Be sure to catch the latest episode of Rev Runs Around the World Wednesday at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.
