Bernie Sanders' campaign is suing the DNC

Recently, the Democratic National Convention accused Bernie Sanders of illegally accessing data for the Hillary Clinton campaign, and the Sanders campaign is striking back, suing the DNC for what they see as an attempt to slow down his campaign.

“We are announcing today that if the DNC continues to hold our data hostage, and continues to try to attack the heart and soul of our campaign, we will be in federal court this afternoon seeking an immediate injunction,” said Jeff Weaver, the campaign manager.

“The leadership of the Democratic National Committee is now actively attempting to undermine our campaign. This is unacceptable. Individual leaders of the DNC can support Hillary Clinton in any way they want, but they are not going to sabotage our campaign — one of the strongest grassroots campaigns in modern history.”

Weaver did admit that four members of the staff had accessed the information but that only one of them had taken actions that resulted in that staff member being fired for inappropriate access to the data.

The lawsuit went on to state that the DNC was holding the campaign hostage by refusing its access to the voter data. “The loss of DNC support could significantly disadvantage, if not cripple, a Democratic candidate’s campaign for public office,” the lawsuit read.

Since the lawsuit was filed, Clinton’s press secretary tweeted out the following message: “If you are so proud of your grassroots organization, you should not need to resort to stealing campaign data.”
