Jennifer Lawrence has been outspoken about her frustrations with how Hollywood treats male and female actors differently when it comes to pay.
Comedian Chris Rock has a different take: Hey Jennifer, try being a black female actress.
“Black women have the hardest gig in show business,” Rock says in a new New Yorker profile on comedian Leslie Jones. “You hear Jennifer Lawrence complaining about getting paid less because she’s a woman – if she was black, she’d really have something to complain about.”
Rock was referring to, in part, Lawrence’s essay on the matter “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?”
You can read Lawrence’s full essay from October below:
Lawrence hasn’t responded to Rock’s comments, but we’ll keep this post updated if she does.
