Acadamy Award nominations announced: #OscarsSoWhite all over again

Don’t expect to see many African-American folks walk away with trophies at next month’s Academy Awards presentation.

This morning, the Oscar nominations were announced and there are no black nominees in any of the major actor or director categories.

Most notably, Straight Outta Compton didn’t receive a best film nod, nor did any of the film’s actors receive nominations. Will Smith was also shut out of the best actor category for his role in Concussion.

Straight Outta Compton did receive a best original screenplay nomination; however, the film is actually written by 2 white writers: Jonathan Herman and Andrea Berloff.

Folks on social media are outraged that Straight Outta Compton didn’t get more love at the Oscars.

Last year’s nominations excluded black actors in all major acting categories. It appears the 2016 Academy Awards are ‘#OscarsSoWhite the sequel.’

The 88th Academy Awards will air on ABC Sunday, February 28, at 8/7c.
