Actress Janet Hubert says Jada Pinkett Smith wants Oscars boycott because Will didn't get nominated

Jada Pinkett-Smith is prepared to boycott next month’s Oscars.

But actress Janet Hubert will not be alongside her.

The original ‘Aunt Viv’ from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air posted a Facebook video Monday accusing the actress of only wanting an Oscars boycott because her husband, Will, didn’t get a nomination for Concussion.

Ouch.

For the second year in a row, no black actors or actresses have been nominated in the four major acting categories. #OscarsSoWhite has returned to trend for a second time, and Jada (along with Spike Lee) has spoken out loudly about the possibility of a boycott.

Hubert said there are other things in the world going on that Jada and Will should be more concerned about — starvation, poverty, unemployment, etc.

She said simply, “It just ain’t that deep.”

Hubert said she found it “ironic” that Jada would ask for a boycott when she’s made “made millions and millions of dollars from the very people that you’re talking about boycotting.”

The former Fresh Prince actress also said it is unfair for Jada (and Will) to ask black actors and actresses to jeopardize their careers. The video spans a little over four minutes and quickly turns personal towards the end.

Hubert mentions a time where she says Will refused to use his celebrity and influence to help members of the Fresh Prince cast negotiate pay raises.

She also said Will and Jada need to “get over” themselves.

This one is far from over.
