Charles Evers, the brother of slain civil rights icon Medgar Evers, has thrown his endorsement behind Donald Trump in the presidential race, citing Trump’s business sense as the reason for his support.
“I believe in him first of all because he’s a businessman,” Charles Evers said to the Clarion-Ledger. “I think jobs are badly needed in Mississippi.”
As for Trump’s fiery rhetoric and controversial statements, Evers dismissed the idea that the Republican frontrunner was racist, pointing to the fact that he had not participated in things like “Confederate History Month” and other such overtly racist things headlining the news lately.

“I haven’t seen any proof of [Trump] being a racist. All of us have some racism in us. Even me,” Evers said.
