A Georgia high school student is coming forward with audio of her teacher insulting her in front of the entire class, because she no longer wants to be forced to face him.
Shaniaya Hunter has an eye condition that occasionally forces her to miss parts of school. She was trying to catch up on what she had missed before a test when her teacher began to insult her, calling her “dumb” and even bringing up her eye condition in front of the entire class. She was recording on a school-issued iPad and captured the tirade, but even without the recording, she said that she would never be able to forget what her teacher said to her that day.

Her mother approached the school board about the incident, but she said that their response was unsatisfactory, so attorney Ben Windham agreed to take on their case pro bono.
“The man does not need to be teaching young children. It’s not a gray area. End of story,” Windham said.
Hunter, a junior, said that she was not the only student to have drawn the teacher’s ire, but she wanted to come forward to end it.
“I don’t think it’s ok. I don’t think he should be here,” Hunter said.
