A Florida sheriff’s deputy and his 9-year-old son are among three family members who died in a boating accident on Sunday.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Deputy Fernandas Jones and his son, 9-year-old Jaden, went out early Sunday morning on a fishing trip along with Jones’ father-in-law, Wills Bell, and his cousin, 45-year-old Robert Stewart. Stewart was the only member of the boating party ultimately to survive.

Jones’ wife, Michelle, called authorities around 10 p.m. that night when they did not return from their fishing trip. A small craft advisory had been in effect that day, meaning winds were strong enough to create dangerous wind conditions for small craft.

The first body was found early Monday morning, and the sheriff’s office then tweeted out that two more had been discovered. Stewart was found capsized and later rescued by helicopter, and he has since been taken to the hospital.
