Wendy Williams loses sponsor after coming out against black institutions

After Wendy Williams denounced HBCUs, the NAACP and Jesse Williams in general, Chevy has pulled their sponsorship from her show.

It was during her Hot Topics segment that she went on a rant against all three.

“On the other hand, I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically black colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There’s the NAACP,” Williams stated.

These comments landed her in hot water with sponsors, and it led to Chevy pulling out of her show all together.

According to Love B. Scott, back in April of this year, The Wendy Williams show struck an all-inclusive deal with Chevrolet, Carat Media and ACE Media Corp to include on-air promotion of the 2016 Chevy Malibu. This covered everything from custom digital content and social media marketing and was set to carry through all of 2016.

That changed after Wendy’s recent comments. Chevy no longer wants anything to do with her show.

According to Scott’s sources, Wendy has been “sobbing all week” over the situation, though she still refuses to apologize.

The President and CEO of ACE Media Corp, which is the company that was responsible for facilitating the Chevy partnership, is Andrea Holmes Thompkins, who graduated from Howard University.
