Simone Biles was already considered to be one of the greatest gymnasts ever, becoming the first woman to win back-to-back world championships before she even got to the Rio Olympic Games.

But this didn’t seem to occur to NBC’s Bob Costas during an interview with Biles and teammate Aly Raisman.

The interview was already cringe-worthy because it focused more on their crushes on Zac Efron than on their athletic prowess, but the real head-scratcher of the interview came when Costas suggested that Biles had only just now become famous.
“But to most Americans, you were not that well known until the few months leading up to the Olympic Games,” Costas said.
