Chicago rapper King Yella shot while filming anti-violence music video

On Tuesday, Chicago rapper King Yella (Cemone Lewis) was shot while filming what he called a “Black Lives Matter” and “stop the violence” music video. He broadcasted the aftermath of the shooting that left him with a gunshot wound in his arm as well as a graze wound in his side on Instagram.

The day started out with high hopes when King Yella posted on his Instagram inviting the community to rally around the video.

After the shooting, which police say was gang-related, a Twitter account representing the Black Disciples gang posted a video online taking credit for the shooting.

King Yella then posted his own series of videos showing him shirtless as he bled from the left side before later showing him in a hospital bed with his arm bandaged, writing in one caption, “God got me.”
