Rapper Shawty Lo, born Carlos Walker, has been confirmed dead after a car crash in Fulton County, Georgia. He was 40.
According to Fulton County police, the car crashed over a guardrail and hit several trees before bursting into flames. Walker was ejected from the car and died at the scene, while two unidentified women suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the crash.
His manager confirmed Shawty Lo‘s passing, taking to Twitter to write, “My brother has passed he is no longer here but his spirit, his kind heart , and his music will live on Long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead.”
Shawty Lo is best known for his 2007 song “Dey Know,” which was a Billboard Top 40 success. He was also a founding member of the hip-hop group D4L in 2003, as well as D4L Records.
