Early Sunday morning, Mylan Hicks, a former defensive back for Michigan State, was shot and killed outside a Canada nightclub called the Marquee Beer Market.
At 2:30 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired at the nightclub and found Hicks in critical condition. He was transported to a hospital but later died of his injuries.
“The loss of this 23-year-old young man at this stage of his life and his career is an unfathomable tragedy,” Ken King, president and CEO of the Stampeders, said in a statement. “Our sympathies to Mylan’s family and to the Stampeders family of players, coaches and staff.”
Three people of interest in this case are currently in custody.
