Mom claims she was raped by four black men, jailed for inventing the story

A Michigan woman was sentenced to one year in jail after she claimed that she was kidnapped and raped by four black men and later admitted to making up the story.

Leiha Artman said that she had been abducted by the men after they stopped to ask her for directions, and she claimed that they threw her in their trunk and beat her in addition to sexually assaulting her.

During the two days that she was missing, her boyfriend received pictures that appeared to show her being held captive, including one image that showed her gagged and seeming to bleed from the head.

Although Artman admitted to making up the story about the four black men, her partner maintained that she really had been raped and beaten but gave the false report because she was afraid of retaliation from her real attacker.

“All I know is that I woke up to some very, very brutal pictures,” he said. “She did make up a story saying it was four black men but, at the end of the day, she did get really, really hurt by someone. She is a good woman and a good mother. She was a heroin addict that needed help and rehab.”

Artman called him two days after her alleged kidnapping and told him that her captor had dropped her off. He then picked her up and took her to the hospital.
