On the heels of her TV movie with Lifetime, Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le, Michel’le announced that she isn’t finished making sure that her story is heard and that the world knows about the domestic assault allegations against Dr. Dre. In addition to the movie, she is also writing a book.
Michel’le shared the news when a fan suggested that she write a book to fill in the gaps that the made-for-TV movie didn’t address. “It’s coming,” she wrote on Twitter.
This in the wake of the largely positive response to her biopic, despite the fact that Dr. Dre announced his intentions to sue if the movie aired because of the way it portrayed him as a woman-beater.
Leslie Greif, who executive produced the film, confirmed that the received a cease-and-desist order but said that they went ahead with the movie anyway: “I heard Sony said they vetted the film and stand by it, and will not allow Michel’le’s voice to be silenced. They’re supporting this picture … These are not new stories. Dr. Dre and Suge Knight have not seen the film to my knowledge, and are presupposing what they did and how it might make them appear on screen.”
