Antonio F. Knox Sr., the Grand Basileus for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., said on Monday that the fraternity is investigating after a video emerged on YouTube showing members of their organization showing their buttocks.
Knox said that he started to get calls from concerned people who had seen the video, which has garnered 6 million views on YouTube, late Saturday. The video features fraternity members jumping up and down with their pants low enough to show their buttocks.
“It was sad, and it was disgusting,” Knox said of the video. “While I understand young people having a party and doing things, this is not what Omega does or condones.”
Knox went on to say that the video appeared to have been recorded in Florida back in 2009, but he stated that there would still be consequences for those that were seen in the video once they were identified. He added that he didn’t want the video to tarnish the fraternity’s good work that they had done in other areas.
“People should go to our website and look at all of the positive things we do and the things we do in the community,” Knox said. “Look at the things we’ve done politically, economically and the things that we support. Don’t judge us by anything that in no shape or form is a misrepresentation of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.”
