Murdered teen ends up saving four lives due to organ donation

Roy Stuart was 15 years old when he was shot and killed at the apartment complex in Dallas where he lived with his grandmother, but despite the tragedy that ended his life far too early, he is now saving lives because of organ donations to others who need them.

His grandmother, Brenda Stuart, adopted him when he was just a baby. She heard the news that her grandson had been shot last week when she was at the grocery store.

“Somebody asked me, ‘How is your baby doing?’” she recalled. “‘I guess he’s doing all right. What’s supposed to be wrong with him?’ [Then] she said, ‘I heard he got shot.’”

She dropped everything to rush to the hospital, where Roy had been placed on life support. He remained in that state for three days before he was taken off life support, and now, in the wake of that tragedy, his organs are being donated to save lives.

“He has a good heart, and it will live on in somebody else,” Brenda told WFAA. “He was always trying to help somebody when he was alive, and now that he’s gone, he’s still helping people.”
