A picture of North Carolina Trump supporters celebrating on a bridge is going viral and troubling people because many are saying that it shows the KKK celebrating Donald Trump’s win last night.
The picture shows people waving flags on the bridge, and Assistant Chief Allen Byrd of the Mebane Police Department says that it shows Trump supporters in Burlington, not the KKK in Mebane.

Alamance County Sheriff’s director of public information Randy Jones told BuzzFeed News that both Mebane and Burlington authorities began to receive calls about the tweet after the picture hit Twitter incorrectly labeling the supporters as members of the KKK. Police then drove out to the same overpass where they had seen Trump supporters with flags the day before.
“It’s the same group of people. They’ve got several flags, but they’re not in garb There’s nothing related to the Klan,” Jones said.
The Times-News reported Tuesday on the group of people as well, writing, “Peering over the Tucker Street overpass Tuesday, Barry Brown and roughly a dozen other Donald Trump supporters waved flags at the passing motorists below.”
The claim that the people in the picture are from the KKK has also been debunked by Snopes.
Hey @michaelhayes, I’m a reporter here & it’s not the KKK. Wrote about it yesterday, when the pic was actually taken.https://t.co/aDDlPXf3Yf https://t.co/9cebPqWnIH
