Lamar Odom says ‘dark times’ with Kardashian led to brothel overdose

The so-called ‘Kardashian curse’ may have led to Lamar Odom’s overdose at a Nevada brothel in October of 2015, the former athlete said during a recent interview.

The ex-NBA star opened up to “The Doctors” about what led up to his near fatal overdose, revealing that he and his now ex-wife Khloé Kardashian were in a bad place at the time.

“I wasn’t in a good place mentally — especially mentally before the incident happened. My wife at the time (and I were) going through some things, and I was in a dark place,” Odom said to Dr. Travis Stork in an interview.

The partial interview aired on Friday, the same day that Odom and Kardashian’s divorce was made final.

According to Odom, the last thing he remembers before waking up in the hospital after his coma was being at the brothel. He didn’t realize he had been in a coma until Kardashian told him about it.

After recovering from the overdose, he now says that “everything happens for a reason.”

Odom’s visit to “The Doctors” was the first step in him deciding to enter rehab again. He checked himself in last week.

According to Stork, “We were going to hold that interview until he completes the treatment,” but when the information about Odom and rehab was leaked publicly, they decided to release a portion of the interview.

You will not be able to see the full interview, which covers both before and after his 60 days in rehab, until January.

“We’re obviously first and foremost focused on his recovery,” Stork said.

He described Odom as an “incredibly nice person” who is very committed to his recovery.

“(He was) very open with the demons that he’s battled, he’s a human being first and I think sometimes we forget that because he’s reached such celebrity status…” Stork said. “And you can tell he’s just a man trying to find his way.”
